Itinerary
1. Starting at Confederation Landing, you'll take in views of Charlottetown's waterfront and feel the city's history in the sea breeze. This spot is a great place to begin your exploration of the town’s rich past. Entrance not applicable.
2. As you pass Carroll House on Great George Street, admire this historical building, part of the charming Inns of Great George. It offers a glimpse into Charlottetown's architectural beauty. Entry is optional and not included.
3. St. Dunstan's Basilica, one of Charlottetown's iconic landmarks, towers above the city’s historic streets. You’ll learn about its history as you walk by. Admission isn’t included but you can explore inside if you wish.
4. Province House, where the Charlottetown Conference laid the groundwork for Canada’s founding, is a highlight of your stroll. While you'll pass by and learn about its significance, entrance is optional and not part of the tour.
5. One of Canada’s oldest city halls, Charlottetown City Hall’s red brick exterior is a charming sight. You’ll hear about its historic importance as you pass by. Entry to the interior is not included.
6. Rodd Charlottetown is a historical hotel that once hosted rail passengers in the 1930s. As you walk past, you'll discover its link to Charlottetown's transportation history. Entry and dining are optional extras.
7. Passing by All Souls’ Chapel and Lane, you’ll see these quiet, historic corners of Charlottetown. The Chapel, with its stone facade, is an architectural gem. Entrance is optional.
8. As you walk by Government House, the official residence of the lieutenant governor of PEI, you’ll learn about its role in the city’s political history. Admission is not included but can be arranged separately.
9. Stroll by Beaconsfield Historic House, a beautiful Victorian mansion. You'll hear stories of its past residents and the successes and tragedies that played out here. Entry is optional and not included.
10. Connaught Square offers a peaceful walking path through one of Charlottetown’s historical parks. It’s a great spot to take in greenery and history, with no admission required.
11. As you pass the Culinary Institute of Canada, you'll learn about its reputation as one of the best in the country. While you’ll walk by, dining inside is an option but not included in the tour.
12. Walking by the Haviland Club, you’ll learn about this historical building’s unique status as one of the few homes solely owned by a woman during its time. Entry is not included but you’re welcome to visit on your own.
13. As you pass the Prince Edward Island Regiment museum, you’ll hear about PEI’s military history. Admission is not part of the tour but can be arranged separately for those interested.
