Callejoneadas are a tradition that emerged in Guanajuato in the mid-20th century, inspired by the old Spanish student groups. These musical groups, composed mainly of university students, roam the city's alleys and squares singing popular songs while recounting local legends and anecdotes. The tradition was adapted to Guanajuato's colonial setting, where the narrow alleys and architectural landscape offer an ideal environment for the activity.
