1. La Central Gros

You are in THE fashionable neighborhood of San Sebastian! You can’t miss the historic center, that’s for sure, but you also have to come to this neighborhood to realize the great diversity of the city!

2. Maria Kristina Zubia

Here we see the Maria Cristina Bridge, the best known bridge in the city. Crossing the Urumea to connect the two parts of San Sebastian, it is named after Queen Marie-Christine of Austria who reigned in Spain at the end of the 19th century and helped to make the reputation of the city of San Sebastian by coming to spend all its summers there.

3. Puerto de San Sebastián

This small port with incomparable charm, located at the foot of Mount Urgull, consists of two pools, one reserved for pleasure boats, the other for fishing boats.

4. Aquarium

Here is an Attraction not to be missed! The San Sebastian Aquarium, built in 1928, is one of the symbols of the municipality, a city facing the sea from the creation of its port in the 11th century.

5. Paseo Nuevo

It is impossible to visit San Sebastian without passing by its unmissable Paseo Nuevo, the “New Path”, which was created in 1916.

6. Construccion Vacia

This sculpture, located at the foot of Mount Urgull, whose name means “empty construction” in French, was designed by Jorge Oteiza, great Basque master who is responsible for several Spanish sculptures and buildings.

7. Monte Urgull

You have to climb a little to be able to make the most of Mount Urgull, one of the two mountains visible in San Sebastian. Needless to say, at the top you will enjoy a superb view of the city, the bay and Mount Igueldo.

8. Donostia / San Sebastián

You may know San Sebastian for its must-see event this September, the International Film Festival.

9. Motako Gaztelua

Here you are in front of the city’s flagship monument: the Mota Castle. A true symbol of San Sebastian, it was built at the beginning of the 12th century under the orders of the King of Navarre Sancho VII.

10. bay of La Concha

Undoubtedly one of the most impressive views you can have of San Sebastian! From here you have a superb panorama of the Bay of Concha, considered one of the most beautiful bays in the world.

11. Basílica de Santa María del Coro

The Basilica of St Mary of the Choir was built in the 16th century in place of an old Romanesque church that had stood there since the 12th century.

12. Calle 31 de Agosto

The name of this street is a true symbol for the city of San Sebastian: it is the day it disappears under fire, bombed by the Portuguese and British armies.

13. San Juan Kalea, 15

St. Vincent’s Church is a real monument in San Sebastian and for good reason it is the oldest church in the city! Built between the 15th and 16th centuries, it has a late Gothic style designed by the architects Miguel de Santa Celay and Juan de Urrutia.

14. San Telmo Museum

In St. John’s Square, the San Telmo Museum opens its doors to allow you to retrace the eventful history of this small fishing hamlet that has become one of the most famous seaside resorts in Spain.

15. Konstituzio Plaza

You are in the heart of the city! Constitution Square, located not far from the Basilica of St. Mary of the Choir and St. Vincent’s Church, is the real living place of the inhabitants: it is here that the festivities and activities of the city take place.

16. Bretxa Public Market

San Sebastian is one of the cities that can be described as the “capital of gastronomy”. Already, we know, Spain in general is famous for its famous tapas, the base of Spanish aperitifs!

17. Monumento al Tamborrero

On your right, located at the very beginning of Sarriegi Square, is a statue that refers to what is here called Tamborrada.

18. Victoria Eugenia Antzokia

This beautiful theatre was inaugurated in 1912. Located on the banks of the Urumea River, a river that flows a few meters further into the Cantabrian Sea, it is a true symbol for the city of San Sebastian, which boasts of hosting the International Film Festival every year.

19. La Central Gros

Here you have a nice view of the Urumea, the river that crosses San Sebastian and the buildings that border its other bank.

20. Zurriola Hiribidea, 1

The large building that stands out from the others on your right is the city’s convention center. So, of course, when you look at it like this, you don’t necessarily find it attractive, but it is in fact an avant-garde building that even received the title of the most beautiful European building in 2001.

21. Zurriola beach

Welcome to surfers paradise! Zurriola Beach is recognized worldwide as an incredible spot for surfing.

22. Zabaleta Kalea, 18

In the heart of the Gros district, this church was inaugurated in 1897, at a time when this part of San Sebastian is growing and beginning to welcome more and more inhabitants.

23. Cathedral Buen Pastor de San Sebastián

Here you are in front of the Cathedral of San Sebastian, dedicated to the Good Shepherd, one of the words of Jesus.

24. Beach of La Concha

You have in front of you a superb panorama of the Bay of Concha, which makes the reputation of the city, considered one of the most beautiful bays in the world.

25. Carrusel de San Sebastián

This beautiful carousel, which marks the entrance to the historic center of San Sebastian, was installed here in 1998 and constitutes a beautiful ensemble that reproduces the characteristics of carousels of the 1900s, displaying the style of the Belle Époque.

26. Donostia-San Sebastián City Hall

Decorating the end of the Alderdi Eder Gardens, the Town Inn is certainly one of the most imposing buildings in the so-called Pearl of Cantabria.
