Itinerary

1. Seoul
Seoul is world-famous for K-Pop and Squid Game, but the capital’s food culture has a far older legacy. It’s a city of extremes, where the same delicate hands that apply high-end cosmetics, are just as likely to be found cracking eomuk fish cakes at a street food stall. Our feasting tour of 12+ tastings invites guests on a culinary experience around the backstreets of old Seoul led by our team of professional foodie guides. Before we get started, our tour reflects the local cuisine and the limitations of street food vendors means we unfortunately cannot cater for every dietary restriction. Here's an honest appraisal for the tour so no-one is disappointed: ✖️Vegetarians have 3-4 less tastings due to limited alternatives at some vendors. ✖️ Unsuitable for severe allergies, halal and celiac diets, due to risk of traces and cross-contamination. If you are feeling adventurous for a foodie journey, read on!
Duration: 15 mins
2. Gwangjang Market
Knowing where to go, what to order, and how the dishes fit into daily Seoulite life takes local insight. Fear not, you've come to the right place. Begin at Gwangjang Market, a 120-year-old institution and the heart of the city's street food. We’re going straight for a bowl of kalguksu hand-cut noodle soup served by the legendary stall of "Netflix Auntie". Watch as she rapidly knives through elastic dough, a masterclass in 'son-mat', where the variable thickness provides a different texture to each strand.
Duration: 45 mins
3. Gwangjang Market
We’d rather not spoil all the surprises, but during 12+ tastings there are some firm favourites in store. Tuck into golden nokdu bindaetteok fritters, and fiery, velvet-glazed tteokbokki rice cakes. Next up is the dangerously addictive kimbap seaweed rice rolls - Korea’s punchy answer to Japanese sushi. Carry in hand a cinnamon-laced hotteok pancake oozing with nuts and melted brown sugar, as we leave the market behind for the atmospheric narrow lanes of Ikseon-dong village.
Duration: 90 mins
4. Ikseon-dong
Venture into the historic neighbourhood where century-old Hanok wooden houses have been reborn as the city's trendiest boutiques. No evening is complete without the quintessential Korean fried chicken, paired with ice-cold beer. Thin-skinned, incredibly crunchy, and served with a side of tangy pickle to cut through the richness of the meat. We complete our food expedition with a plate of juak, glutinous rice doughnuts glazed in honey, served with a glass of traditional omija tea, a medicinal balance that perfectly sums up the layered flavours of this unique food culture. Whilst it's possible to attempt such a culinary marathon alone, you’d be hard-pressed to find these legendary food heroes without joining our nightly moveable feast. Come hungry.
