Itinerary

1. Falkenhaus
The tour starts in front of the tourist information office in the Falkenhaus on the market square. The facade of the Falkenhaus is decorated with rich stucco ornamentation in the Rococo style and is a testament to Würzburg's heyday in the 18th century. Right next to it stands the majestic Marienkapelle (St. Marys Chapel), which was built in the Gothic era. You will learn about the eventful history of the market square and the tragic background of how the Marienkapelle and the market square came to be built.
Duration: 20 mins
2. Grafeneckart
We continue to the Grafeneckart, the oldest part of Würzburg's town hall. Originally built as a residential tower and used also as a center of municipal administration, it now houses the Wenzelsaal, one of the oldest secular rooms in Germany. The ground floor is home of the documentation room, in which a model of the destroyed city after the attacks in World War II can be seen.
Duration: 10 mins
3. Alte Mainbruecke
At the Old Main Bridge, your tour guide invites you to a “Brückenschoppen”. This means that you can enjoy the unique atmosphere and the magnificent view with a glass of excellent Franconian wine. You can relax and listen to your guide’s captivating explanations: about the 1300-year history of the time-honoured Marienberg Fortress, which stands proudly on the hill above, about the river Main as the epicenter of culture, commerce and wealth, about the wine that is being cultivated directly on the adjacent vineyards since centuries and about St. Kilian’s Cathedral, which stands in a line of sight to the bridge. Here, at the locals’ favorite meeting place, let yourself be captivated by the city’s way of life, which is both vibrant and homely. The perfect start in getting to know and love Würzburg.
