Overview

Itinerary

1. Cuernavaca is the leafy capital of the state of Morelos, surrounded by the Tepozteco mountains. Former home of the Spanish conquistador Hernán de Cortés. To the southwest is the Cuernavaca Cathedral, a 16th-century walled monastery with a mural illustrating Mexico's first saint.

2. Catholic cathedral with a mural showing Mexico's first native saint, Felipe de Jesus.
3. A history museum in a former residence of a famous conquistador, with murals by Diego Rivera.
4. Continue exploring Taxco, a colonial city with hundreds of years of history. The city is nestled on a hillside with winding cobblestone streets, tile-roofed buildings, cozy squares, and a strong Old World ambiance that has survived through hundreds of years. During your visit, you will have the opportunity to explore a silver workshop, where you will be taught how to recognize the good silver and have free time to buy souvenirs, have lunch, take photos, etc. Taxco is known worldwide for its quality silver mines and shops so you will have the opportunity to see and buy art pieces from Mexican artisans.

5. Visit the most beautiful temple in Mexico, Santa Prisca; built-in 1758 by the French immigrant José de la Borda, who literally stumbled upon a huge silver spring.

7. Depart from Mexico City, where you will take the road to Taxco, the oldest mining city in America. If you have selected the option, you will discover a unique mine in this place, the famous pre-Hispanic mine, you will go down in an authentic mining elevator and explore the corridors of this mine.
