Overview

The Caminito del Rey, known as "the most dangerous trail in the world", is located only 60 km from Malaga. Enjoy a guided tour including entrance, expert local guide, safety helmet, water bottle and shuttle bus from Hotel La Garganta (El Chorro, south access) to the start of the tour, returning to the same point at the end. For about 3 - 4 hours you will travel 7.7 km of trails and walkways suspended over the impressive Gaitanes Gorge, with heights up to 105 m. As you walk, the guide will share the history of the place and discover spectacular views of the Guadalhorce River, the El Chorro Swamp and the natural landscape. The experience culminates by crossing the emblematic suspension bridge of Caminito del Rey. At the end, you can choose between crossing the new longest pedestrian suspension bridge in Spain, or returning along the alternative path, before returning to Hotel La Garganta.

Itinerary

1. La Garganta Restaurante y Hotel

Access the hotel reception to be greeted by the guide who will show you El Caminito del Rey and meet the group.

Duration: 15 mins

2. Count of Guadalhorce Reservoir

The group will board the shuttle bus from El Chorro train station to enjoy a panoramic walk along the natural landscape road enjoying the views towards the reservoir of the Conde de Guadalhorce until the start of the route El Caminito del Rey through the northern access in the Ardales area.

3. Before starting the spectacular tour of the Caminito del Rey, we will access the famous tunnel dug into the rock, a unique entrance that takes us into the heart of the gorge.

4. Tunel De Los Tafonis

Once we start the path that will take us to the northern access of the Caminito del Rey, we will pass in front of the geological formations of this impressive natural place and observe the tunnel of the Tafonis.

5. We will make a short tour along the path of the Emblase de Gaitanejo until we reach the reception of the visitor center of Caminito del Rey (northern access)

6. Centro de visitantes del Caminito del Rey Ardales

The guide will distribute the safety helmets and give small instructions on recommendations, guidelines and safety to consider within the official route of the King’s Path before accessing its interior.

7. Gaitanejo Power Station

At the beginning of the official path of the Caminito del Rey we will see the Gaitanejo Power Station remotely and the guide will give explanations about what it represents.

8. Caminito del Rey

We will walk the official path of the King’s Path through which the expert guide will tell you stories, curiosities and details about the construction, nature and anecdotes of this emblematic place.

10. Desfiladero de los Gaitanes

During the tour we will appreciate this point of interest and walk "the chocolate staircase".

11. El Valle del Hoyo

During the tour we will appreciate this point of interest and we will pass by the Charca del Sapillo Pintojo, where this small amphibian is usually seen, and the ruins of the Casa del Hoyo, old rural houses that preserve the footprint of the ancient Berbers.

12. Mirador De Cristal Caminito Del Rey

During the tour we will appreciate this point of interest where we will enjoy the impressive Gran Gaitan Canyon, with suspended walkways at 100 meters high. Just a few meters away, the famous Mirador de Cristal awaits us, from where you can see the gorge under your feet and the remains of the old walkway next to the train pass.

13. Puente Colgante Del Caminito Del Rey

During the tour we will appreciate this point of interest, arriving at the most exciting moment : the suspension bridge of 32 meters long, suspended 105 meters high above the gorge of the Gaitanes. A unique experience with spectacular views. Next we will cross the new longest pedestrian suspension bridge in Spain inaugurated in June 2026.

14. Embalse Tajo de la Encantada

After crossing the suspension bridge, we will reach the front of the gorge, where the El Chorro reservoir begins to form. We will descend by stairs and a terrain route to the exit of the Caminito del Rey, at the southern access.

15. We will arrive at the end of our tour at the Caminito del Rey helmet collection point at the exit of the southern access, in El Chorro, 200 meters from the meeting point where we started the activity. Here you will return the safety helmet to the staff of Caminito del Rey.

16. Pic-Nic. Caminito del Rey

Once the visit to the official route of the Caminito del Rey has ended, we will finish our activity in the picnic area of the Caminito del Rey. Here you can rest in this enabled area or return to the point where our activity began to drink some food and drink, enjoy the wonderful views of the Caminito del Rey or end the tour from the means of transport you chose.
