Overview

I am a San Francisco native with six generations in the City. I have written three books about San Francisco and record a San Francisco factoid video almost every day. We will meet at California Hall, currently Academy of Art University School of Fashion. Please do not block the main entrance. There is an awning we will meet under.

After our tour ends at Turk and Market, I will walk the group around the corner to Powell BART station and the cable car turnaround.

Itinerary

1. California Hall
Built in 1912, this building was originally named Das Deutsche Haus and served as a German social meeting hall before becoming the location of the Academy of Art Fashion School.
Duration: 10 mins
2. Little Saigon
One of the most diverse parts of San Francisco with amazing culture and incredible food.
3. Glide Memorial Church
One of the largest providers of social services in the Tenderloin, Glide played a pivotal role in acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community by the San Francisco religious establishment.
4. Father Alfred E. Boeddeker Park
A beautiful neighborhood park that has hosted many community events and has a gorgeous mural.

5. Powell/Mason Cable Car Turnaround
After the tour ends, I will walk the group to the cable car turnaround at Powell BART Station.
