Itinerary
1. In this emerald cenote you will discover a natural waterhole, the main source of water for the Bacalar Lagoon.
2. Inside this cenote you will be able to learn about stromatolites, what are they and what are they for? Why are they so important to take care of them?
3. The travel time to reach this point is 30 minutes. In this area you can swim and it is an ideal place since it is not deep. Likewise, if we are lucky we can admire the various birds that nest on this island.
4. You will visit this cenote to appreciate the difference between a cenote and a lagoon, since the edge of this cenote is spectacular.
5. With a view over the lagoon you will appreciate the Fort of San Felipe, a site that was built to defend against the constant attacks of English pirates who came to Bacalar in search of natural resources.
6. Here you can enjoy some time swimming, from shallow to deep depths according to your interest, it is an ideal spot for photos. At the end we will have a return travel time of 30 minutes.
7. Stromatolites are a rock formation, important worldwide since they form the ozone layer. During the tour we will learn about their importance at various points.
