Overview
If you want a unique experience in Toledo, to get to know it thoroughly and away from mass tourism, we will take you through a Historic Centre full of monuments and places of interest. With the help of an Official Local Guide, you will discover the City of the Three Cultures, a World Heritage Site since 1986. Choose the monuments to visit, advised by us, based on your religious or cultural preferences or special situations (such as visits with children, people with reduced mobility...) Itinerary
1. We will visit the heart of the Imperial City of Toledo, its historic complex. On our itinerary we will walk through its most emblematic streets and squares. In the Historic Centre there are places as interesting as the Alcázar, the Plaza de Zocodover, the Cathedral Primada de España, the Mosque of Cristo de la Luz, the Jewish Quarter, the Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca, the Synagogue of El Tránsito or the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes. These are just some of the best known. In addition, we could access underground excavations not open to the general public to learn about part of the Hidden Toledo, such as Islamic Hammam, Roman Baths, medieval Cistern (well), Jewish Ritual Bath (Mickvé), etc... We will advise you based on the opening days, hours, your tastes and preferences which places would be the most suitable to visit. 3. The Cathedral of Santa Maria de Toledo is one of the most impressive Catholic temples in Europe. The decorative richness of its interior is unparalleled. It is one of the highlights of the visit.
4. It was once one of the most important Jewish quarters in the Iberian Peninsula. Its two incomparable mosques will captivate you. Its narrow streets and corners will make you fall in love.
5. Inside it houses El Greco's masterpiece: The Burial of the Lord of Orgaz. One of the most important paintings in history that can only be admired here as it has never been in a museum or exhibition.
6. Jewel of the Sephardic world in Toledo. The ancient Main Synagogue of the Toledo Jewish quarter will captivate you with its forest of columns and horseshoe arches.
7. The last synagogue built in Toledo. This 14th century building has an astonishing decoration that makes it unique in its style. The Sephardic museum transports us to another era and helps us to better understand the Jewish legacy in the city.
8. The most important construction undertaken by the Catholic Monarchs Isabel and Fernando. The cloister is a marvel of late Gothic architecture. The church is almost another cathedral in Toledo.
