Itinerary
1. After a short drive from Avignon and your tour guide's commentary along the way, experience the peaceful surroundings of St Paul de Mausole's asylum, where the Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh created masterpieces like "The Starry Night" or "Irises". Don't miss the remains of the former Roman town of Glanum that are to be admired just across the street. Please note that the hospital is still in use today. Visiting the replica of Van Gogh’s room is not included in this tour. There is either no time or very limited time available to see it, so the focus will be on the exteriors and the final part of the St Remy Van Gogh Walk, where boards represent some of the artist’s most famous works.
2. Embark on a scenic drive through rolling vineyards and fragrant olive groves to reach Les Baux de Provence, a sparkling jewel in the heart of the Alpilles massif. Your tour guide will drop you at the entrance of this enchanting pedestrian village, where every winding street and sun-drenched terrace offers breathtaking views. Perched like an eagle’s nest on a rocky plateau overlooking the vast Camargue, Les Baux is much more than a medieval fortress—it’s a place to wander, explore charming shops, discover local crafts, and soak up the timeless Provençal atmosphere.
3. Meet your driver and head to Arles, the vibrant and historic heart of the Camargue. Your tour guide will provide maps and insights to help you make the most of your visit. Enjoy a long stop to wander through Arles’ captivating streets, explore its remarkable UNESCO-listed monuments, and follow in Van Gogh’s footsteps, all while soaking up the town’s unique charm and rich history.
