Overview

Hop aboard our luxury style vehicles to explore the iconic Whitney Plantation. On the morning of your tour, our driver will call you before their arrival and will also greet you when he or she arrives. While traveling out to the plantation he or she points out interesting facts along the way, listening to various types of New Orleans jazz music. Upon arrival at the plantation, they will check you in and give you information for the beginning to the end of the tour, such as what to explore after the tour and where to meet once the tour is over. The self guided tour is one hour fifteen minutes, we allow our guest time to explore the museum and use the restroom before heading back into the city. This tour goes out twice at 8:00 a.m. to approximately 1:30p.m. and 10:00 a.m. to approximately 3:30 p.m. this time includes tour and travel time.

Redemption Instructions

For the 10a.m tour , the pick-up window is from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. This thirty-minute window allows our driver to collect all passengers efficiently and ensures that we stay on schedule. The tour will conclude with a return time between 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., giving you plenty of time to explore and enjoy your tour. For the 12 noon tour , pick-up will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. This earlier pick-up window ensures that everyone is gathered and ready for the tour. The return time for the noon tour is approximately 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., allowing you a leisurely afternoon of sightseeing before heading back.

Itinerary

1. Within the boundaries of the “Habitation Haydel,” as the Whitney Plantation was originally known, the story of the Haydel family of German immigrants and the slaves that they held were intertwined. In 2014, the Whitney Plantation opened its doors to the public for the first time in its 262 year history as the only plantation museum in Louisiana with a focus on slavery. Through museum exhibits, memorial artwork, restored buildings and hundreds of first-person slave narratives, visitors to Whitney will gain a unique perspective on the lives of Louisiana’s enslaved people.
