Visit Zoo Atlanta, an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), dedicated to protecting wildlife and habitats through conservation, research, education, and engaging visitor programs.
The zoo is home to more than 200 animal species from around the world, including many that are endangered. Guests can explore diverse habitats and learn about global conservation efforts while observing these incredible animals up close.
Recent additions include a new African lion habitat, which opened in April 2025. In the African Savanna area, visitors can see elephants, giraffes, zebras, ostriches, warthogs, and meerkats roaming expansive habitats. Nearby, the new African lion complex and a redesigned habitat for southern white rhinos add even more to explore.
Zoo Atlanta is also home to two of the largest populations of great apes in North America, featuring both gorillas and orangutans. For reptile and amphibian enthusiasts, Scaly Slimy Spectacular offers an immersive indoor experience showcasing more than 50 fascinating species.
